Lagos council renames street after slain lawyer Bolanle Raheem

John Campos, the Chairman of Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area, has renamed a street in the Ajah area of the state after Bolanle Raheem, a pregnant woman shot dead by a police officer, assistant superintendent of police Drambi Vandi, on Christmas Day.

The slain Mrs. Raheem, a lawyer and realtor, was shot dead in a car in the presence of her sister and four kids.

The shocking incident has attracted wide condemnation from Nigerians, including  President Muhammadu Buhari and Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu.

The two assured of a speedy trial of the officer.

On Wednesday, Inspector-general of police Usman Alkali Baba announced the suspension of the murderous officer Vandi, in order to pave the way for his investigation and prosecution.

Baba said Vandi’s suspension “is in line with the internal disciplinary processes of the Force …and it is also expected to create an enabling environment for necessary legal procedures to uphold justice in the case without interference.

“The suspension is without prejudice to the constitutional presumption of innocence in favour of the officer.”
