Labour suspends nationwide protest

Labour unions including the Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress have suspended their nationwide protest against the removal fuel subsidy.

TheCornet had reported that the unions initially shunned pleadings from the presidency and some Nigerias, who expressed the concern that the protest might disrupt commerce and further hurt the already beleaguered Nigerian economy.

While appearing on Arise TV, TUC’s president Festus Usifo said the unions have called off the protest.

Usifo, alongside his NLC counterpart, Joe Ajaero, met with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Presidential Villa on Wednesday.
