IGP orders probe into policewoman’s alleged sexual assault

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba has ordered a probe into alleged sexual assault of a female police officer by her male colleague.

TheCornet reports that the female police officer, Inspector Olorunsogo Bamidele, Tuesday posted a video to Twitter, alleging that the Divisional Crime Officer Ajayi Matthew assaulted her for refusing his request of an amorous affair.

The officer in now viral video displayed her injuries from the alleged assault.

In a statement on Tuesday, Muyiwa Adejobi, force spokesperson said the IGP gave the directive to the commissioner of police, Osun state, Olaleye Faleye.

The incident happened in Ode Omu Osun State.

“We will await the report of the investigation from Osun State Police Command before necessary actions are taken.

“However we assure the general public that justice will be done in the case, to protect the core values and ethics of the NPF,” Adejobi said.
