 Gunmen shoot 5 policemen dead
Some gunmen have shot five mobile policemen dead, a month after an assistant commissioner of police, Aminu Umar, and some other police officers and civilians were killed in cold blood in Katsina state.
Moreover, the gunmen were said to have killed some civilians during their raid of Gatikawa community, Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The mobile policemen were reportedly on special duty to Katsina.
Daily Trust is reporting that the gunmen stormed the community, at about 5:35pm on Wednesday, shooting sporadically. They also reportedly raided several houses, carting away valuables and food items.
Gambo Isah, the spokesperson for the police command, reportedly confirmed the incident.
As a result of the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Idrisu Dabban Dauda, presented cheques of N14.6m to families and next of kin of the slain officers.
