NASS Legislative aides give clerk ‘Integrity’ award

Legislative aides working in Senate and House of Representatives have jointly given an “Icon of Integrity” award to the clerk of the National Assembly, Sani Tambuwal.

A statement by the ‘Legislative Aides Welfare Front’, issued in Abuja, commended Tambuwal for paying their minimum wage arrears owed since the 9th legislative assembly.

In their commendation letter, the aides said Tambuwal “justified and lived up to the huge expectations” they have of him since his appointment.

They equally hailed the clerk for being accessible and responsive, adding that such are the “necessary qualities required to discharge” his responsibilities.

The aides however reminded the clerk about the need “to offset the balance of salary arrears” and ensure their “severance benefits” are paid too.

The aides reminded Tambuwal of his promise, adding they believed he would keep his word while showing such “good leadership that has made you such a popular figure amongst aides and staff.”

The statement adds that the various factions among the legislative aides are united in their resolve to work with Tambuwal.

Lawson Oviasogie, the convener of the Legislative Aides Welfare Front, said: “Alhaji Sani Tambuwal demonstrates a unique trait that was lacking after his predecessor, Alhaji Salisu Maikasuwa retired.

“Unlike before, , there is a near unanimity that this 10thAssembly would be favourable to everyone. In that regard, we are willing to give him all the support he needs to succeed,” Oviasogie said.
