Soldier who insulted Sanwo-Olu over colleague’s ordeal arrested

Lt Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, chief of army staff, has stated that a young soldier, who lampooned Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for arresting his colleague for committing a one-way traffic offence, had been arrested.

The young soldier, in a video he posted online, accused Sanwo-Olu of humiliating the offender, stating that a civilian, regardless of the position he holds, cannot arrest a soldier. He lambasted the governor for his action in the presence of those he called ‘bastard civilians’.

He said the state governor had no right to arrest a soldier, more so in front of his barracks. He also said the governor had no control over soldiers except their superiors.

In his statement on the issue, Lagbaja told journalists in Enugu that the army was investigating the irreverent soldier.

He said, “The Army has investigated and the soldier has been apprehended and we are investigating for every other comical that you have seen on social media.”

TheCornet reports that Governor Sanwo-Olu intercepted the soldier and other motorcycle riders who drove against oncoming traffic (one-way) along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
