Uzodimma: PDP’s lawyer Ozekhome slammed N40m fine

Mike Ozekhome, a senior advocate, and counsel to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), incurred the anger of Supreme Court panel hearing his suit aimed at removing Imo State Hope Uzodimma from office.

Ozekhome had represented the 2019 PDP’s governorship candidate, Emeka Ihedioha.

In the suit, he sought a consequential order of the court to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare Ihedioha as the winner of the governorship election of 2019.

In his ruling, Justice Tijjani Abubakar, declared Ihedioha’s application as an unmeritorious one, “frivolous” and “vexatious.”

Justice Abubakar explained that the Apex court lacked jurisdiction to hear the suit beyond the 60 days period stipulated in law.

The judge fined Ihedioha and the Peoples Democratic Party’s counsel Mike Ozekhome N40m for bringing the matter before the court.
