Ganduje to ‘replace’ ousted Adamu as APC national chairman

Speculations are rife that Abdullahi Ganduje, the immediate past governor of Kano state, will replace ousted Abdullahi Adamu as the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC).

Multiple sources had claimed that Ganduje’s visit to President Bola Tinubu Wednesday night was about his rumoured plan to take over the ruling of the party.

The ruling party had announced that Adamu and its former national secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, had resigned their positions. Senator Abubakar Kyari, the party’s deputy chairman (North), told the public he was stepping into Adamu’s position in acting capacity.

Report has that the former Nasarawa state governor (Adamu) had failed to account for the billions of naira the party made from the sale of nomination forms to the party’s political aspirants before the general elections, held last February.

Former president Muhammadu Buhari had handpicked Adamu against then presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu’s choice of Tanko Al-Mukura, also a former governor of Nasarawa state.

In the buildup to the ruling party’s primaries, last year, Adamu had announced former senate president Ahmad Lawan as the party’s preferred presidential candidate, fueling disenchantment from other candidates and party leaders at the time.
