FRSC issues travel advisory over Kogi flooding

Owing to the flooding in Kortonkarfi, Kogi state, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has issued an advisory to citizens travelling along the Lokoja-Abuja Expressway.

The advisory stated that due to “the flooding around Kortonkarfi in Lokoja, which has impeded the free flow of traffic on the Lokoja-Abuja Expressway for the last two days, motorist travelling to the South-West region of the country are kindly advised to take the Suleja-Bida-Mokwa road.”

It further stated, “Those travelling to the South-South/South-East regions are also advised to go through Nasarawa-Oweto Bridge-Adoka-Otupka axis.

TheCornet reports that the flooding crisis has claimed the lives of some residents. William Aya, the spokesperson for the Kogi Police Command, said the development.

“Yes, I can confirm that two bodies were discovered by divers following a boat accident on Tuesday when trying to ferry residents across the flooded parts of Ganaja-Lokoja Road,” he said.
