1,897 senior officers get new ranks

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has promoted 1,897 senior officers to higher ranks, among them 14 Commissioner of Police (CPs) who ascended to the rank of Assistant Inspector General (AIG).

Ikechukwu Ani, PSC spokesperson, said that 21 Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCPs were promoted to the rank of Commissioners of Police; 20 Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to DCPs; and 109 Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) to ACPs.

Other promotions include 184 Superintendent of Police (SPs) to CSPs and 1549 Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASPs) to DSP.

“However, one of the Commissioners for promotion to AIG was stepped down to enable the Commission to review the Pending Disciplinary Matters against the Officer which was sent to the Commission by the Nigeria Police Force,” the PSC revealed.

Similarly, PSC approved the appointment of AIG Dasuki Galadanci, (AIG in charge of Zone 12 Bauchi) as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police representing North West Geopolitical zone.

“He will replace DIG Ibrahim Sani Ka’oje who is expected to retire 2nd of February this year,” the statement said.
