DSS questions Bawa after Tinubu suspended him from office

The Department of State Security (DSS) says that it invited suspended chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, to provide answers as to his activities in office.

Peter Afunanya, the spokesperson for the DSS, said confirmed Bawa’s presence at the DSS headquarters.

“The invitation relates to some investigative activities concerning him,” Afunanya said.

President Tinubu had suspended Bawa and ordered a probe into his activities in office. Willie Bassey, director of information, office of the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF). announced the suspension in a statement he released to the public.

The statement claimed “weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him” were made against Bawa, hence the action. Following the development, Abdulkarim Chukkol, EFCC’s director for operations has stepped into Bawa’s position in acting capacity.
