Man on visit to lover ends up spending 4 months in jail

A man, John Akapo, was reportedly on a visit to his girlfriend but ended up spending four months in prison.

According to the story, Akapo was formerly working in a poultry farm in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.

While at the farm, Akapo stole two crates of eggs and, as a result, banished from work.

He returned to the area long after he committed the offence to see his girlfriend. A member of a local vigilante who sighted Akapo promptly arrested and handed him to the police.

The police arraigned Akapo before a court.

“The court ruled in his favour and discharged him on August 4, 2022.” Headfort Foundation, a prison reform initiative said.

Akapo’s failure to do so would see him in jail for four months.

Reprieve came his way following the foundation’s intervention. Akapo has regained his freedom.
