Court bars LP’s officials as party sinks into deeper crisis

The crisis-hit Labour Party has been stopped from parading its national chairman, Julius Abure, and three others as officers of the party.

The federal high court on Tuesday granted the ex-parte order filed by a lawyer, James Onoja, against the party officials. Onoja based his request on the grounds of crime, and a warrant of arrest for Abure; the national secretary, Farouk Ibrahim; national organising secretary, Clement Ojukwu; and treasurer, Oluchi Opara.

The lawyer tendered receipts, seal and affidavits of the Court he alleged Abure and his colleagues forged while substituting candidates unlawfully.Â

He equally gave documents wherein the court’s chief registrar invalidated the forgeries, and a police indictment too.Â

Ruling, Justice Hamza Muazu said that Onoja’s affidavits supporting his request were valid to get his wish granted. She so ruled.Â
