Jonathan shouldn’t deceive himself over lure from APC – Sani

Former senator, Shehu Sani, has advised ex-president Goodluck Jonathan to be wary of the lure to re-contest the presidency in 2023.

Sani, who represented Kaduna Central as a senator between 2015 and 2019, made his admonition via a Facebook post.

“GEJ should not deceive himself nor allow himself to be deceived, Sani said in his cryptic post, which many believe aimed at Jonathan’s rumoured presidential bid.

There are reports about an alleged cabal in the presidency luring Jonathan to re-contest under the auspices of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Last week, a crowd of supporters besieged Jonathan’s Abuja residence, urging him to join the presidential race.

In his response to his supporters, Jonathan told them there are “ongoing processes” while also urging them to “watch out”.

The former Nigerian leader, whose government was blighted by allegations of corruption and incompetence, was defeated in the 2015 presidential vote by incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.
