Ekweremadu pulls out of Enugu guber race

Senator Ike Ekweremadu, a former deputy president of the Senate, has said he would not take part in the Peoples Democratic Party governorship primaries for Enugu state.

TheCornet reports that Ekweremadu had previously rejected the zoning arrangement being adopted by the PDP-led government in the state.

Ekweremadu announced his withdrawal via a statement issued by Hon. Charles Asogwa.

“We continue to trust God as we appreciate our teeming supporters and the good people of Enugu State for the enormous goodwill they have ceaselessly invested in the actualisation of the “Pathway to a New Enugu State”.

“We urge them to remain peaceful and be assured that we will keep them abreast of our decision on the way forward.”

On Tuesday, a former governor of old Anambra State Senator Jim Nwobodo had announced that the Enugu East Senatorial zone had adopted Dr. Peter Mbah to succeed incumbent governor Ifeanyin Ugwuanyi
