Edo man kills self over wife’s alleged infidelity�

A man, Friday Omosigho, from Benin City, Edo State has committed suicide after he violently attacked his wife over alleged infidelity.

Omosigho had accused his wife, known as Mary, of sleeping with other men and reported the matter to some community elders who intervened in the dispute.

But just when everyone believed the matter had been laid to rest, Omosigho went to his farm and inflicted several machete wounds on his wife. He left her for the dead and returned to their home.

At home, Omosigho drank poison and died thereafter.

Chidi Nwabuzor, who speaks for the state police command, confirmed the incident.

“The woman, who was still alive, was taken to the hospital, where she is receiving treatment.”

He said the investigation into the matter is ongoing and that the case has been transferred to the homicide department of the command.
