Buhari knows APC presidential aspirant offering dollar to delegates – Senator Basiru

Senator Ajibola Basiru, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Senate, says President Muhammadu Buhari knows who among the presidential aspirants is luring delegates with “cash gifts” and “dollar.”

Basiru, who represents Osun Central, said this in his op-ed, titled “Osinbajo: Adeyeye and his dishonest thesis.

His comment is a rejoinder to an article by former senator Professor Sola Adeyeye, who is a campaigner for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s candidacy.

Adeyeye had said the “northern establishment” and President Buhari’s foot-soldiers” are rooting for Osinbajo, as against Tinubu.

Equally, Adeyeye claimed that Buhari was referring to Osinbajo when he said during a television interview that he already had a favorite for the presidency in 2023.

Faulting Adeyeye’s claim, Basiru challenged the latter to name the “Buhari foot soldiers” waiting to crown Osinbajo as the ruling All Progressives Congress presidential flagbearer.

Basiru said Adeyeye “can oblige the public with the result of his census of anti-Tinubu Buhari foot soldiers to back his assertions!”

He continued: “In making a comment on President Buhari’s comment that the presidency is not for sale to the highest bidder, perhaps the senator (Adeyeye) is oblivious of the fact that the President has access to information of the camp already reported as wooing delegates with cash gifts in naira and dollar.”

Basiru says he wonders why Adeyeye “is not content with selling his aspirant to those he called “the establishment” without attacking Asiwaju.”

The senate spokesperson concludes Adeyeye’s intention is “to rally the “establishment” against Asiwaju Tinubu.”
