CAC moves against Dangote’s company over several years of infraction

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has moved against Dangote Fisheries, one of the companies in the conglomerate of the Dangote Group. According to a CAC notice, the company had failed to file its annual returns over a period of ten years.
The CAC says the company’s action contravenes the provisions of the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020.
“This is to inform the general public that the commission pursuant to its powers contained in Section 692 (3) (4) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act No. 3 2020, intend to strike off from the register, names of defunct or dormant companies that have not filed annual returns for a period of ten years,” the notice read in part.
The company, however, has 90 days to regularize its status and file returns or risk being struck off from the agency’s business listing.
Incorporated on June 7, 1985, the moribund Dangote Fisheries has as its directors Aliko Dangote, the president of the Dangote Group, and the late Sani Gote, a former vice president of the group. in disregard of the provisions of the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020.
CornetNews reports that Dangote Fisheries is one of the 91,193 affected businesses named by the CAC.
