Ohaneze probes alleged Igbos ‘killing’ in Lagos

The Council of Elders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has set up an inquiry into the alleged killing and maiming of Igbos during the last governorship election in Lagos state.

The body also urged President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure justice for the victims by punishing those behind the attacks and destruction of properties belonging of their kinsmen.

Ohaneze said it would like to know the “number of Igbos killed, number of Igbos injured and hospitalised, number of Igbos permanently incapacitated and comprehensive report of Igbo assets and properties destroyed, including the burning of markets.”

It equally maintains that the Igbos are not at war with Yoruba, while reminding that similar occurrences led to the Nigerian civil war between 1967-1970.
