Buhari’s aide mocks ‘presidential candidate’ bickering over campaign donation

Bashir Ahmad, who is President Muhammadu Buhari’s special assistant on digital communication, has mocked an unnamed presidential candidate he claims is feuding with founding members of his party over campaign donations.

Ahmad did not mention the said candidate in name, but some of his respondents believed the innuendo was a jab at Peter Obi.

Ahmad tweeted: “LATEST: One presidential candidate and founding members of his party in a bitter feud, as the candidate suggested that all campaign donations have to go through the bank accounts he personally provided.”

TheCornet reports that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, had some days ago urged his supporters to donate to his campaign.

“I invite every member of the OBIdient Family, and every supporter of our march to a new Nigeria to visit. You can use that medium to support and donate in cash & kind to the campaign,” he said.

Obi’s popularity, especially among the youths, soared after he declared his intention to contest the coveted office.

Until his joining the LP, Obi was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party. He had run as the running mate to Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 presidential election.
