Kano Governor Abba Yussuf removed from office

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has nullified the election of Abba Kabir Yussuf as governor of Kano State. Yussuf is of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP).

The court upheld the judgment delivered by the Kano Election Petitions Tribunal sacking Yussuf.

The tribunal equally at the time ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a certificate of return to the All Progressives Congress’ candidate, Nasir Ganuwa. Ganuwa is of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In reaching its verdict, the tribunal upheld Ganuwa’s statement of claim that there were incidents of over-voting during the poll.

After deducting the unlawful votes, the tribunal declared scored 853,939 while The governor’s votes were then reduced to 853,939, as against Ganuwa’s 890,705 votes.
