Okorocha’s international passport seized

Senator Rochas Okorocha will have to deposit his international passport with the federal high court, says a ruling delivered on Tuesday.

Okorocha is facing a 17-count money laundering charge. At the resumed hearing on Tuesday, Okorocha’s counsel Solomon Umoh moved the application for his client’s bail. He urged the court to grant Okorocha bail on liberal terms.

The trial judge, Iyang Ekwo held that the former governor’s conduct will deter the court from granting him customary bail conditions.

Ekwo ordered that Okorocha’s surety must be a responsible citizen with a landed property in the like sum of the bail granted.

The judge forbade Okorocha from travelling out of the country without the permission of the court. He also directed that the Nigerian Immigration Service should be put on notice.

Okorocha’s co-defendants in the corruption trial are Anyim Chinenye, a chieftain of the All Progressives (APC) and five companies — Naphtali International Limited, Perfect Finish Multi Projects Limited, Consolid Projects Consulting Limited, Pramif International Limited, and Legend World Concepts Limited.
