How Lagos brothel collapsed on prostitute, patron during intimacy

A developing story on the building that collapsed last Friday in Lagos state has that a prostitute and her patron was having intimacy when the incident happened. The building, located at

2/4 Oye Sonuga Street, Palm Avenue, Mushin, served as a motel/brothel before the sudden occurrence that claimed four lives.

Daily Trust is reporting that emergency officials squealed to it that two of the victims were in the nude and the man over the woman, when they dead bodies were retrieved from the rubble.

“In fact they were naked when their bodies were recovered,” one official was quoted to have said.

Another official reported to have commented anonymously said that the rescuers “were shocked by what we saw at the scene.”

“The last two victims whose dead bodies were recovered were actually having sexual intercourse. The man was on top of the prostitute when the building collapsed. They both died.”

The officials added that they were yet to contact families of the victims.

“We have to reach out to their colleagues there who are all prostitutes to get information on the victims’ families,” the source said.

Okunbor Nosa, spokesman of LASEMA, said the part of the building that collapsed was recently built and attached to the existing one, which itself was constructed over 40 years ago.

Engr. Omotayo Bamgbose-Martins, the state Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, directed that the surviving building be pulled down to forestall another accident.
