Nigeria on manhunt for fleeing Binance executive who escaped from custody

The Nigerian Government is on the trial of one of the two executives of Binance, a crypto currency trading platform, who escaped from custody. Premium Times broke the news of Nadeem Anjarwalla’s escape but officials are yet to confirm the story.

The investigative news platform reported that a guard had led Anjarwalla to a mosque, where he was to pray when he mysteriously disappeared. While the authorities had impounded his British travelling, they didn’t know Anjarwalla retained his Kenyan passport with which he flew out of the country.

A source who was quoted in the story reportedly revealed that Anjarwalla and his co-detainee were detained in a posh guest house and granted VIP privileges, including the use of telephone.

It is also said that the authorities are working to determine the fugitive  destination, with the intention to repatriate him to Nigeria.

The Federal Government arrested the two Binance executives for their role in manipulating foreign exchange, which impacted Nigerian currency, the naira, negatively.
