Why I endorsed Peter Obi over Atiku, Tinubu, Kwankwaso – Obasanjo

Former president Olusegun Obasanjo has officially endorsed the Labour Party’s presidential candidate Peter Obi for the 2023 poll. He made his choice known in a New Year message to Nigerians.

Obasanjo said he interacted with all the candidates but found Peter Obi to tower above the others in “character, attributes and attitude that are necessary in the job of directing the affairs of Nigeria successfully and at a time like this.”

Obasanjo said this by no means makes Obi a saint, as there is not such among the presidential candidates.

“None of the contestants is a saint but when one compares their character, antecedent, their understanding, knowledge, discipline and vitality that they can bring to bear and the great efforts required to stay focused on the job … Peter Obi as a mentee has an edge.

“One other important point to make about Peter is that he is a needle with thread attached to it from North and South and he may not get lost. In other words, he has people who can pull his ears, if and when necessary,” Obasanjo also said.

The former leader and civil war hero urged Nigerians to move away from blaming anyone for the war. Instead, he urges the citizens to forge ahead.

Obasanjo also encouraged youths to take advantage of the forthcoming election to elect a good leader that would salvage the country.
