Embattled Ekweremadu appointed into PDP campaign council

Senator Ike Ekweremadu, the former deputy president of Nigerian senate who is currently on trial in the UK, is part of the the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign organisation.

UK authorities arrested Ekweremadu and his wife, after a man whom they took to the UK to donate a kidney to their ailing daughter, raised an alarm.

Despite his travails, Umar Bature, PDP national organising secretary, named Ekweremadu as part of the campaign team that also has Udom Emmanuel, governor of Akwa Ibom, as the chairman.

Equally, Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto, is the director-general, while Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed and Oyo’s Seyi Makinde are vice-chairmen (north); and (south) for the campaign organisation.

All PDP governors are among the members of the presidential campaign council, including Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state who is at loggerheads with the party’s candidate Atiku Abubakar, and its leadership.

Others include former governor of Cross River Liyel Imoke, (deputy director-general of operations); Adewale Oladipo, (deputy director-general, administration); Raymond Dokpesi, (deputy director-general, technical and systems); and Okwesilieze Nwodo, (as deputy director-general, research and strategy).
