What Buhari should have done about ministerial nominations – Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani, a former senator from Kaduna state, has reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari’s fresh ministerial nominations.

Sani, who contested but lost the state’s governorship election, made a special case for the former minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

Sani believes President Buhari should have re-appointed Amaechi to the transportation ministry, due to ongoing railway projects in the country.

“I thought that as critical as the ministry of transportation is, the former minister (Amaechi) who had made pledges and promises of completing these rail lines — some projects within this year and some next year.

“He should have been returned to ensure that these contracts that were signed with China, Portugal and other financiers of our railway projects, at least he sees them to the end.

Sani expressed fear that, with a new minister, the projects might be stalled.

Amaechi had resigned from President Buhari’s cabinet to contest the presidential ticket of the ruling party. He however lost to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who emerged the party’s flag bearer for next year’s election.

TheCornet had reported that President Buhari forwarded names of seven nominees to the Senate on Monday to be considered as ministers.
