‘We thought Yusuf Lasun was big fish’, says LPÂ

Disappointed by Yusuf Lasun’s poor showing at the Osun gubernatorial poll, the Labour Party admits it was mistaken about the politician’s influence.

Lasun, who was LP’s standard bearer, came fifth in the poll that was won by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ademola Adeleke.

The former deputy speaker of the house of representatives had dumped LP and accused its presidential candidate Peter Obi of selfishly pursuing personal political goals.

He subsequently teamed with PDP’s presidential standard bearer Abubakar Atiku.

Prince Bello Adebayo, the Chairman LP-Osun chapter, faulted Lasun’s excuse for leaving the party.

“We thought he (Lasun) was a big fish, but at the end of the day, you can see our performance. We came fifth during the Osun governorship election,” Adebayo said.

He adds Lasun decision to quit the party is self-serving as he expects that the PDP would patronise his hotels built in the state.
