VAT: Oyo joins Rivers against FG

Oyo State has asked the Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to join it in the suit filed by Rivers State Government against the Attorney-General of the Federation on collection of Value Added Tax (VAT).

Oyelowo Oyewo, Oyo attorney-general, filed the joinder suit on Wednesday.

A government statement said the grounds of appeal include that the state would be affected by the Court of Appeal judgement, being one of the 36 states of the federation.

“The interests of the Applicant and that of the Respondent, in this case, are similar, being States within the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
