Undergraduate ‘raped’, killed in Plateau

Ruth Yakadi, an undergraduate of the University of Jos, was founded dead in Farin-Gada community, Jos, Plateau State.

Yakadi was, until her grisly death, a 400-level English Language student of the university.

The deceased is believed to have been raped by her assailants before her murder.

Sympathisers staged a protest around the community over the victim’s death. It is gathered that Yakadi had completed her studies and was awaiting mobilisation to partake in the mandatory National Youth Service Corps scheme.

Professor Jeff Doki, who is the head of department of English in the university, had said in a report that Yakadi was raped before she was gruesomely murdered.

“Information available shows the girl was raped and killed thereafter. As things stand now, we are wondering if they are rapists or assassins,” Doki said.

Equally, Alfred Alabo, the spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, confirmed the incident. He also said the police were investigating the murder.
