Two die in gang war in Rivers

The clash between two armed gangs has led to the death of two persons in the Mile One area of Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.

Report has that the fatal clash between the Beach Deck of Iceland’ and Castro House of Degbam took place at Gambia Street on Saturday, with an ex-convict being one of the slain victims.

A former Iceland member, now with Degbam, reportedly led an attack on the leader of his previous group, identified as Precious Adiele.

The said Adiele succumbed to his injuries from machete cuts.

A source privy to the incident allegedly said the Degbam members set Adiele’s residence ablaze with an elderly man living it.

PUNCH said residents are overwhelmed with fear of a reprisal attack.

Grace Iringe-Koko, the police spokesperson for Rivers state command, said the late Adiele was recently released from prison.

“The man killed is one Precious Adiele, aged 26.

“He was a member of Iceland and a notorious armed robber who had been involved in a series of robbery cases and just returned from the custodial centre.

“The scene has been visited. The Commissioner of Police has deployed tactical teams to ensure no further breakdown of law and order,” Iringe-Koko was reported saying.
