Two Chibok girls, now mother of six children, found

The Nigerian military says it rescued two of the abducted students of the Federal Girls Secondary School, Chibok, along with their six children.

The girls are Yana Pogu, now a mother two boys and twin girls, and Rejoice Sanki – a mother of two.

Major General Christopher Musa, the theatre commander, North-East Joint Operation, Hadin Kai, announced the rescue in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state, in Nigeria’s northeast.

One of the girls, Pogu, is listed at number 19 on the roll-call of the abducted secondary schoolgirls. The military spokesperson said troops found Pogu during clearance patrol on September 29 2022, in Mairari village, Bama Local Government Area.

The other girl, Rejoice Sanki –listed as number 70 on the list of the missing girls – was found on October 2, 2022, with her two children in Kawuri area.”

Within the last five months, the military has announced the rescue of 13 Chibok girls. Boko haram insurgents abducted 276 girls in 2014, but only about 96 are still in captivity.
