Troops overpower IPOB/ESN fighters after exchange of fire

Troops of 82 Division have raided training camp used by the outlawed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra and its military wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN) at Amagu village Nkalaha community, in Ishielu LGA of Ebonyi State.

An army statement said the troops overpowered the outlaws, when they engaged them in a gunfight.

The statement listed items recovered from the camp as 102 rounds of 7.62mm special, 2 Pump Action guns, 5 locally made rifles, 1 roll of Detonator 27, quantity 24 Detonators, 33 electrical cables, quantity 12 of type 36 Hand Grenades and 12 bags of substances suspected to be Marijuana. Others are three motorcycles, two power generators, one water pumping machine, military woodland camouflage and Nigeria Police uniform.

Equally, the army said its troops arrested one Mr. Martins Abogwu at Agubeji community in Enugu state. The said Abogwu claims to be the community’s chief security, but the army said he had been conniving with IPOB/ESN elements to unleash attacks on innocent citizens.

He is said to have led the troops to their camp, where they found a shallow grave with two decomposing bodies. One of the corpses is that of a member of a local vigilante kidnapped a month ago.
