Kwankwaso’s son-in-law Abba wins Kano governorship poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Abba Yusuf, the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) the Kano state governor-elect. Yusuf polled 1,019,602 to defeat Nasir Gawuna, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, who garnered 890,705.

Abba, who is son-in-law of NNPP’s presidential candidate Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, contested but lost the 2019 governorship election to incumbent Governor Abdullai Ganduje.

The returning officer Professor Ahmad Doko Ibrahim declared Yusuf’s victory.
