Three Nigerian fraudsters extradited from UK to US

Three Nigerians arrested for fraud have been extradited from the United Kingdom to the United States for their involvement in a fraud, costing $5 million.

They are Oludayo John Adeagbo, 43; Donald Ikenna Echeazu, 40; and Olabanji Egbinola, 42.

Their victims are US citizens and universities in North Carolina, Texas and Virginia.

The US Ministry of Justice, in its statement Wednesday, said Adaegbo and Echeazu were charged with wire fraud conspiracy, money laundering, and aggravated identity theft.

The duo defrauded North Carolina University of more than $1.9 million via a business email compromise scheme.

The suspected fraudsters were arrested April 23, 2020, by UK authorities following a request from the United States. Their appeal against their extradition failed.
