Terrorists training to carry out deadly attacks, says DSS

The Department of State Services, DSS, has alleged that terrorists organisation, the Islamic State of West Africa Province, ISWAP, is planning a deadly attack against soft targets in Nigeria’s North-East region.

“Available intelligence has indicated that ISWAP are training suicide bombers with a view to carrying out deadly attacks on security agencies and vulnerable communities, ” said Babagana Bulama, who is the DSS Director for Adamawa State.

He said the terrorists organisation is already training some persons to carry out suicide bombings and said the agency had received intelligence on the plot.

Bulama spoke at the 2022 1st Zonal Quarterly Conference of State Directors of Security, North-East region on Thursday in Maiduguri, Borno State.

“Although, attacks by the insurgents in parts of the zone recently reduced owing to counterterrorism operations by security forces,” he added.
