Terrorists attack on army barracks repelled 

Nigerian Army on Saturday repelled terrorist attack on the Wawa Cantonment, in Kainji, New Bussa Local Government Area of Niger State.

The cantonment is said to be holding about 1669 Boko Haram suspects awaiting trial were being held and tried by the Nigerian government.

HumAngle is reporting that a military source said that the soldiers engaged the invaders at the entrance of the barracks, killing two of them.

“Wawa cantonment was under attack but has been successfully repelled,” said the source, who doesn’t want to be named because he was not cleared to speak with the press,” the report quoted the source as saying.

Recovered, a Hilux van, one Toyota Sienna saloon car wired with bombs, some RPG tubes, and one Anti-aircraft gun.

“As we speak now, a QRF (Quick Response Force) team has been in pursuit of some of the fleeing attackers,” the source added.

The barracks is about 338km northwest of Abuja, the federal capital territory.

TheCornet reported how the federal  government raised security alert in Abuja following intelligence report by some foreign embassies of an imminent terrorist attack.

Assuring the citizens, President Muhammadu Buhari said the security threats are real but urge the citizens not to panic.
