Judge refuses Ike Ekweremadu bail, considers wife

Senator Ike Ekweremadu was denied bail during his resumed trial for alleged organ harvesting.

The Common Serjeant of London, Richard Marks, stated this in his ruling. He however granted bail to Ekweremadu’s wife, Beatrice but on stringent condition.

The London police are prosecuting the Ekweremadus for taking a minor to London with the intention to harvest his organ.

It would later be known that the said minor, whom the court finally adjudged to be an adult, was meant to donate one of his kidneys to Ekeweremadu’s ailing daughter.

After yesterday’s ruling, the court adjourned till August 4 for further hearing into the case.

Senator Ekweremadu is currently serving in the Nigerian Senate. He was

deputy senate president from 2015 to 2019. He attempted, but lost, the governorship ticket for Enugu under his party, the Peoples Democratic Party.
