Striking workers shut out varsity staff, studentsÂ

Striking workers on Monday shut out students and others from accessing the Kaduna State University.
TheCornet gathered that action kept students and other staff members stranded at the school gate.
The situation is due to a nationwide strike called by the organised labour – the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).
Labour is aggrieved by the proposed ₦60,000 minimum wage proposed by two members of the tripartite negotiation committee.
Apart from the NLC and TUC, other members of the tripartite committee are the federal and state governments, and the organised private sector. Labour has vowed to ground the social services to a halt.
Already, its activities had, as at 12:30 midnight, shut down the national power supply grid.
A statement by the Transmission Company of Nigeria says that the union members are equally frustrating its efforts to recover the national power grid and restore power.
