Stella Oduah to be tried for N5bn fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to prosecute Senator Stella Oduah, a former aviation minister, for fraud.

Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation(AGF), gave the approval for her trial.

Oduah, who representw Anambra north, will face trial, alongside eight others on a 25-count charge of conspiracy, money laundering, and keeping anonymous bank accounts with First Bank Plc.

Her co-defendants are Gloria Odita, Nwosu Emmanuel Nnamdi, Chukwuma Irene Chinyere, Global Offshore and Marine Ltd, Tip Top Global Resources Ltd, Crystal Television Ltd, Sobora International Ltd and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) Nigeria Ltd.

The former minister is said to have committed the alleged offence while serving as a minister in the Goodluck Jonathan-led administration.

Oduah consistently maintains her prosecution is persecutory.
