Sowore sues IGP, Ned Nwoko for N200m

Omoyele Sowore, an activist currently on trial, has sued the Inspector-General of Police, Commissioner of Police (FCT), and a businessman, Ned Nwoko over his arrest on February 24th.

Sowore is demanding a compensation of N200million, a public apology to be published in two national dailies, and a restraining order against further arrest.

Sowore’s counsel, Tope Temokun, stated this in his originating summons.

In the court document sighted by TheCornet, Temokun seeks on Sowore’s behalf a declaration that the latter’s arrest “under instruction and authorization of Ned Nwoko breached his personal liberty and freedom of movement”.

He added that Nwoko had caused Sowore to be arrested over a publication published by Saharareporters. He states that Saharareporter, a news website, is a legal entity that is ‘separate and distinct from the applicant.’
