Lagos PDP scolds LP’s Gbadebo over ‘disrespectful comment’
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos has excoriated the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, over a comment the party described as “disrespectful” to it.
According to the PDP, Rhodes-Vivour claimed he was in talks with “the real owners of the PDP” for the purpose of making its candidate, Olajide Adediran step down for him ahead of the March 11 gubernatorial race.
Hakeem Akode, the spokesperson for the PDP in the state, said Rhodes-Vivour’s claim was false.
He said, āLagos state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has debunked claims by the Labour Party Candidate PDP Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour that heās talking with what he called āthe real owners of PDP structure in Lagos State.”
āPDP is a proper democratic party and itās only the state executive of the party as recognised by the national body can be described as the custodian of the PDP under the leadership of the partyās governorship candidate Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor).
āSo whoever Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour is talking to are only representing themselves and not Lagos PDP, as no official conversation across the two party lines at the moment, and Jandor is NOT planning to step down for any candidate.
āIt is important at this time to issue this statement due to a recent statement credited to Mr Rhodes-Vivour and purported message broadcasted (sic) on a Twitter handle @zuccinille who claimed that Jandor will collapse his structure to work for a certain political party.
āJandor as a candidate in this election achieved making the Jandor brand a household name in Lagos on his own merit due to his immense hard work, and heās not riding on any sudden waves.ā
