Senegal declares public holiday after AFCON win

Senegal has declared a public holiday following the country’s victory at the African Cup of Nations that ended on Sunday.

Senegal defeated Egypt by 4-2 on penalties. Senegal’s President Macky Salldeclared Monday a public holiday to celebrate the country’s football national team.

The president has cancelled his foreign trip and plans to return the country in the euphoria of the soccer vistory.

President Sall will award the team on Tuesday at the presidential palace, RTS television said.

Senegal won their first Afcon final after two previous defeats in finals in 2002 and 2019.
