Hotel owner shoots herdsman dead

A hotel owner, identified as Graham Shaw, has shot dead a herdsman working for him in his farm.

According to the story, Shaw, who is a Zambian of Scottish parentage, was patrolling his farm at night when he caught the image of a man.

He had believed the man was a criminal and decided to fire his short gun at him.

He moved closely to the felled man, only to discover he was one of his staff.

The 60-year-old Shaw quickly put a call through to the police, reporting the incident.

A police commanding officer, Sharon Zulu, said the slain worker, Robbert Longwani, 25, was also staying on the farm.

The officer said Shaw told the police he mistook Longwani for a criminal.

“Brief facts of the matter are that on 30/05/22 at around 22:35hrs, Mr Shaw was patrolling in his farm when he saw a man whom he suspected to be a criminal and he fired at him. When he went closer to the man he had shot, he discovered that it was one of his workers a herds man.”
