Sanusi readies for installation, court stops Kano govt.
Muhammadu Sanusi has arrived the city of Kano, expecting to be re-installed the emir. TheCornet had reported the decision of the Kano state house of assembly to abrogate a chieftaincy law, paving the way for Sanusi’s return to the throne.
At the same time, a federal high court sitting in Kano had restrained the state government from implementing the repeal law. The repeal law, passed by the Kano state house of assembly and assented to by Governor Abba Yusuf had invalidated the appointment of the former monarch, Aminu Ado Bayero, and four others appointed by the outgone administration.
Abdullahi Ganduje, who led the administration preceding Abba’s dethroned Sanusi in 2000. Ganduje, now the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), had failed to get his preferred successor elected, who expectedly would have protected his political legacies.
