Fubara finally speaks after rumoured meetings with Tinubu, Wike
Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has spoken for the first time since his recent rumoured conciliatory meeting with President Bola Tinubu in London and with his major disputant –minister of federal capital territory– Nyesom Wike.
Speaking at the service of songs held in honour of the late Ijaw leader and elder statesman, Edwin Clark, Fubara cautioned his supporters who were hailing him at the event. In his comment, Fubara said to his supporters: “Have you asked yourself, do you think I’m interested in going back there? I want to ask you—don’t you see how much better I’m doing?” Fubara asked the audience at the service of songs.
“Do you think I’m interested in going back there? If I had my way, I would say this is it. This is the will of God. I don’t wish to go back there. My spirit has left that place.”
Fubara is currently on suspension clamped on him by President Bola Tinubu. Similarly suspended are Fubara’s deputy, Ngozi Odu, and members of the state house of assembly. The President had declared a six-month state of emergency in the state.
