Police vow prosecution over unathorised ‘No Parking’ sign
The Nigeria Police Force has said it is illegal for a citizen or business organisation to put a ‘No Parking’ sign at its entrance, without authorization.
Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the force public relations officer, made the admonition on Sunday. Adejobi made the statement, in response to tweets by some citizens complaining about the indiscriminate parking restriction.
He said, No one has the right to use this “No Parking” sign without the approval of the Division Police Office, Area Commander or Commissioner of Police of the state.”
He however gave a caveat that only the police involved in traffic control could do so.
“If anyone uses it indiscriminately, the police can arrest and prosecute the person, he said.
