Police, terrorists in gunfight

Police officers and some terrorists engaged themselves in a gunfight on Monday in Katsina State.

Gambo Isah, the spokesperson for the state police command, said the incident took place at Magamar-Jibia, in Jibia Local Government Area of the state.

According to him, the police overpowered the terrorists and neutralised one of them.

He also said that the police recovered from the terrorists an AK47 rifle with four magazines containing 90 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. Money, he said, were equally found with the terrorists.

Police officers injured in the gunfight were treated at Jibia hospital but had been discharged, Isah claimed.

The law enforcement agency also said it was on the trail of the other fleeing terrorists.
