Plane crashes into Lake Victoria, 43 people on board
A Tanzanian plane has crashed into Lake Victoria on Sunday. The plane – Precious Air – had 43 people on board including its crew members at the time of the mishap.
Local media reports that Precision Air, which took off from Dar es Salaam to Bukoba, in Tanzania, went down almost 100 meters before landing.
The Citizen is reporting that the airline had dispatched a rescue team to the scene and it would release more information in two hours’ time.
The cause of the crash of the plane PW 494 -5H-PWF is yet to be known, but the newspaper said that unconfirmed attributed the occurence to bad weather.
“It is not known whether there are any fatalities”, the report said, adding that the crash site in Lake Victoria is filled with rescue boats as divers continue to scout out the scene for more survivors.
