PDP’s deputy governorship nominee rejects ticket

Funmi Ogun, a former commissioner who served in the cabinet of ex-governor Ayodele Fayose in Ekiti State, has rejected her nomination to be deputy governor on the party’s ticket for 2023.

Ogun wrote to the PDP chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, rejecting her nomination.

“Notwithstanding their good intentions, I formally write to reject the nomination for personal reasons,” she wrote.

“However, I appreciate the uncommon recognition and I assure the party that no effort will be spared at ensuring our victory at the election,’’ she noted.

The politician said she did not intend to slight anyone by her decision.

“I have written this letter while awaiting the reaction of our leader, Ayo Fayose and the national leaders.

This doesn’t suggest any trouble in Ekiti State PDP”, she stated.

Ogun had served as commissioner for works in the erstwhile  administration of Fayose.
